The high-end medical device industry is a key industry cluster being developed in Guangming District. The local government has formulated and implemented relevant industrial policies to foster and expand the high-end medical device industry along the entire value chain. Currently, it has attracted over 140 medical device companies, including leading companies like Mindray, and gathered 24 major technological innovation carriers and three high-level research-oriented clinical hospitals.

It has also introduced and cultivated 1,735 high-level talents, established major industrial funds such as the Mother Fund of Guangming Science City and the Shenzhen Synthetic Biology Industry Fund. The output value exceeded 29 billion yuan (US$3.98 billion) in 2022, and by 2025, it is expected to exceed 70 billion yuan.

In the future, Guangming District will focus on high-end medical imaging, in-vitro diagnostics, life monitoring and support to build an internationally renowned and domestically leading medical device industry innovation pioneer zone.
